WIRD has two sets of events happening this term: Introducing Religions sessions on Monday evenings, and a Word-sharing in week 7.
Each week during term 1 we have the chance to learn a bit more about one of the religions represented in WIRD. There's a half-hour talk given by either someone from the respective society, or a speaker they have provided. Afterwards there is a chance to ask any questions you may have, and to talk over refreshments.
These talks are on Mondays, 5-7pm in R2.41 (in the Ramphal Building). The term's schedule is as follows:
| Week | Date | Religion |
| 3 | 11th October | Jainism |
| 4 | 18th October | Baha'i |
| 5 | 25th October | Christianity |
| 6 | 1st November | Islam |
| 7 | 8th November | Judaism |
| 8 | 15th November | Buddhism |
| 9 | 22nd November | Sikhism |
| 10 | 29th November | Hinduism |
One person from each of the eight religions in WIRD recites or reads a passage of scripture or a prayer from their tradition. That's all; no exposition - just sharing by offering and receiving, reading and listening.
Each contribution lasts two or three minutes, and afterwards there's a chance to meet each other informally over refreshments. All who wish to listen with respect and tolerance are welcome.
This term's Word-sharing is on the theme of 'Peace', and is taking place on Wednesday November 10th, 5-6pm in the Chaplaincy.
